Sara Whalen

I have extensive experience in the treatment of anxiety, depression, and PTSD due to trauma.  Over the past five years I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults with a client centered, trauma informed viewpoint.  I integrate psycho-education, cognitive-behavioral, and meditative practices into treatment.  I have specialized training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), which is an empirically supported intervention generally utilized to treat trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders.

I obtained my Associates in Arts with a focus on psychology at Parkland Community College, I then received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Illinois in Springfield, and finally my Masters in Social Work (Specializing in Mental Health) from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.
